Hey everyone, Only Son is back in New York after over two years of touring the world. At different times I was out with Regina Spektor, Adam Green, Kimya Dawson and The Strokes. It reads like a list of people I wish I could play with. And it’s true. How do these things happen? So far, 2008 has been spent getting back into the swing of New York City. This consists mostly of hanging out at home and slowly but surely writing songs for the next album. Ideas are flying around like cash in a glass box and I’m trying to catch them all. Or at least be able to stuff a bunch in my pockets and sleeves. Or at the very least rub some of it against my cheek and imagine the beautiful future. (Or write a bunch of songs and make an album...) I’ve been watching old movies and thousands of YouTube clips. Reading newspapers and biographies and poetry books. Watching old ladies change from my window. Ignoring restraining orders. All of this and more. It’s important to monitor what images and thoughts you put into your body. During the breaks from these important ingestion ceremonies the full band will be playing some NYC shows. If you don’t live there, kindly be prepared to book your flight at a moment’s notice. You will spare no expense to make it here. Lots of other exciting things have been happening but unfortunately they’re all confidential. Look for these tidbits to be declassified sometime toward the middle of The Great Chinese Century. In the meantime I’ll be writing blogs and posting pictures on our Myspace page as they happen. Thanks to everyone who supports Only Son and I’m excited to see you all on the road again soon. Until then, be good to each other. Reeeeeeeeal good... See ya! Only Son's debut album, The Drop To The Top, is now for sale in major record stores across the US and available for download on the iTunes Music Store! You can also check out songs for free at the Only Son Myspace page. The video for “My Museum” is done! Check it out... The video was created by the wizardly Peter Sand. It features Jack’s good friend Aleksa Palladino, who's not only a great actress but has an amazing band called Exit Music with her husband Devon Church. A big hi-res version of the video in all its digital glory is available here: "My Museum" video hi-res (57.4MB) You can also see live clips, video interviews and a promo video set to “Sleepyface” on YouTube here: www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%22only+son%22 A couple reviews of The Drop To The Top are floating around the internets - check them out at Indie Music Stop and Hybrid Magazine. If you like the way your eyeballs feel when they’re moving over words on a page you can read and subscribe to Jack's rants and tour blogs here: http://blog.myspace.com/only_son |
